For many of us, we know asthma as a quiet disease that forces children and adults to carry an inhaler with them at all times, depriving them of experiences such as a hike in the Fall mountains, playing little league, or owning a family pet. Far less known, is that for 1 in every 10 of those with asthma, it can be a debilitating disease that can strike at any moment, leading to traumatic emergency room visits.
In the United States alone, more than 25 million people are known to have asthma, with about 7 million of those being children[1]. Accounting for the under served population, which is also the most susceptible to common triggers, the total number would likely increase if better diagnosis were made available to the public. Physicians have been doing the best they can to keep symptoms “in check,” but the tools they have been given are severely limited and often lead to a prescription guessing game, giving patients medication they hope will work and adjusting if it doesn’t.
We have assembled a cross-functional team that is dedicated to understanding, treating, and ultimately solving the problem of asthma. While a cure has yet to be discovered for this disease, we believe that it is within our reach to solve asthma with the right minds all thinking together and the necessary technology to support them.

Patient CareIn working directly with physicians, the Center is able to provide the best in patient care and access to the latest clinical trials. This allows asthma patients to become research participants, which will have a direct impact on the future treatments they receive, creating a continuous loop of improvement.

Fundamental ResearchThe Center brings in researchers from all over the world with the common goal of improving the treatment and prevention of asthma. It is our core mission to take the work we have done and make it publicly available to anyone with an idea of how to solve asthma. We understand that discoveries can sometimes come from where you least expect it.

Community SupportIn order to solve asthma, we as an entire community must come together to provide all of the needed resources. This includes the research and medical community, as well as individual patients willing to provide samples and engaged citizens who can assist in providing other types of support.

Message from the Directors
Thank you for visiting the Center for Asthma Prevention and Treatment and learning more about the work we are all doing together to help solve asthma. Our efforts are only made possible by the support of our community and for that we express our gratitude for all that you do. Whether that is getting involved as a patient, researcher, clinician, community member, or a private donor, we believe the only path forward is Together For Asthma. |
